Brian's Story
“At three and a half years old, Brian was excelling in school. He knew the names of all of his peers, teachers, ABCs, colors, and numbers. He could dress himself and was no longer wearing diapers. Then, without any warning, he started experiencing seizures. Within a few days he was incontinent, and no longer knew his peers or teachers’ names. Colors, numbers, ABCs were all unrecognizable to him. He was scared and frustrated. He could no longer express his feelings and his communication was now limited. Brian has “regressive autism spectrum disorder (ASD)”. For every two steps forward, he goes one step back. Brian will never be able to live on his own, care for himself, shop for his own food or clothing, to live without 24-hour support.”
